Principal's Message

Kim Pattillo

“It is my pleasure to welcome you to Black Mountain School. We are currently the only K-8 school in Kingman Unified School District.  We are the Panthers. Our school colors are Black and Red.  We have Panther P.R.I.D.E. Positive, Respectful, Intellectual, Dedicated, & Engaged. We are a Panther family. We take pride in everything we do. We don’t take things for granted and we show appreciation for others.

It is the purpose of Black Mountain School to provide a safe and healthy environment where the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of all children can be met. We are committed to academic excellence. The staff and students of Black Mountain are learning partners who work together with our families and the community toward clearly focused educational goals to develop well rounded, successful students. At Black Mountain, we strive to establish and promote high expectations that advance rigorous learning, character development and productive citizenship for all students.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in the school. When parents attend school functions, they demonstrate to their students that they value school and education. Attending events such as Meet the Teacher, Math and Literacy Nights, Sporting Events, The Fall Festival, Winter and Spring Concerts, and Parent/Teacher conferences are important ways parents can get involved and learn about what’s going on at school. Serving on committees, such as Site Council and PTVO are also important ways to get involved at school. We have a Facebook page that is full of information for parents at Black Mountain Schools.

Parents are informed about school policies, procedures, academics and events through a variety of channels. The Back-to-School packet, which goes home with the students on the first day of school, contains information about school and district rules and procedures, behavior expectations, the school calendar and other essential information. During the year, parents and students can monitor their academic progress through ParentVue and StudentVue. If you are unable to log-in, please let the office know. Parents can also stay informed through classroom notices, one call messaging, the school marquee, and our school and district web sites.

We cordially invite you to help in your child’s classroom as a parent volunteer or just come in and say hi! We would love to see you. I am so thankful to be part of such a wonderful school and community and I am excited to be a partner with you in your child’s education.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts, your questions and your concerns. On behalf of the Black Mountain faculty and staff, thank you for all that you do.”
