Today Ms. Richmond's and Mrs. Wigal's classrooms took a trip back in time… and let’s just say the students were not fans of the king 👑😄

At random times throughout the day, a royal tax collector burst into class announcing, “I am here to collect taxes for the king!” Students were “taxed” for all sorts of reasons—wearing sneakers, blinking too much, even just existing during royal hours. The currency? M&M’s, of course 🍫

At first, there were laughs… but it didn’t take long before the protests began. Students created signs, voiced their frustrations, and questioned the fairness of it all. Some even tried to negotiate or appeal their taxes (unsuccessfully!).

This fun and slightly unfair experience gave students a small glimpse into what it might have felt like to live under a king with strict and sometimes unreasonable rules. Safe to say… our class might be ready to start a revolution 😉

Learning through experience makes history come alive—and today was definitely one they won’t forget!
